Hi Everyone,

As much as we love the warm weather, we are thankful for the changing of the seasons and the cool nights that we are starting to see.

Looking around our community, we are reminded of our commitment to organic farming as part of our responsible stewardship of the environment and this planet that we all share.  One resource that we appreciate is https://www.organic-center.org/ – this organization provides a lot of real science-based facts regarding the importance of organic farming.

This week will be the last of our red potatoes and then we will begin harvesting russet potatoes next week.  All other crops are looking great.  The low hoops and fabric row cover seem to be helping our bean crop, we anticipate harvest beginning soon and continuing through much of the fall.  We are focusing on keeping all beds weeded and watered.  Lettuce and red cabbage plants will be transplanted this week.

We know that some members are interested in adding weeks to their existing membership, and we appreciate that greatly.  Some folks have already extended their shares accordingly.  Next week we will send personal emails to all CSA members with a detail of when your shares end, noting any weeks that were added to the end.  30-week members go until the end of our season and won’t need to end any weeks. ** Reminder – if you will be unable to pick up your share, providing 1-week (or more) advance notice allows us to adjust and add those weeks to the end of the season for you; less than 1-week notice and we don’t add a week to the end.

Members pick up shares on Saturdays between 2:30 and 5:30 at Genesis of Ann Arbor (Temple Beth Emeth/St Clare’s Episcopal Church) 2309 Packard Ann Arbor, MI – in the backlot.  We are looking forward to seeing everybody.

This week’s shares include the following (Cooking Tips and Recipes posted separately):
