Greetings Country Valley Farm CSA Members,

This is our final newsletter of the 2021 season.  We are grateful to each and every one of our members for giving our farm a chance and for the ongoing support.  We love farming and sharing fresh, healthy, certified organic food with our community.  Your membership helps make all of this possible – we could not do it without you!

Reflecting back, it has been a great year.  There were challenges with lack of rain in the late Winter and most of the Spring; and then periods of excessive rain through the summer and Fall.  Supply chain slow-downs impacted our irrigation equipment procurement as well as organic amendments and fertilizer supply – but we are resilient and it all came together to meet the needs.  The first frost/freeze occurred much later than expected, which was a bit surprising but was helpful to extending the season for many crops.  The weeds were persistent through all of it, as were the insects (especially the mosquitos!).  Our soil held strong and produced an amazing amount of crops from the small area we call Country Valley Farm.  Our farmer friends at Cinzori Farm and Gardenworks were especially helpful to making our shares abundant with variety throughout the season.  We are very thankful to the folks at Genesis of Ann Arbor for allowing us to utilize space as a pick-up location.

Looking ahead – we are considering offering some once/month CSA options with home delivery over the winter months.  There are lots of storage crops still (potatoes, onions, squashes, cabbages, garlic, root veggies etc.), and microgreens are produced year-round.  We are also actively signing up members for the 2022 season.  We will send out emails now and then with details.

Shares will be home delivered this Saturday.  The delivery time is between noon and 3PM.

Please put all empty CSA bins on your porches prior to noon this Saturday, for Adam to pick up.  This week’s shares will be packed into waxed boxes that do not need to be returned.
