This week’s small box shares contain the following items – cooking tips posted separately:
· Spring Onions (1 bunch) – from our farm
· Green Garlic (1 dozen) – from our farm
· Fresh Chamomile (1 bunch) – from our farm
· Sunflower Sprouts (1 pkg) – from Gardenworks of Ann Arbor
· Curly Green Kale (2 bunches) – from Cinzori Farms of Ceresco
· Asparagus (1 bunch) – from Cinzori Farms of Ceresco
Medium boxes contain an extra bunch of green kale, extra package of sunflower sprouts, and an extra bunch of asparagus
Looking ahead – This is the last harvest of the green garlic for the season, scapes will start in a few weeks and fresh garlic bulbs will start sometime in July. This is the last harvest of the onions until the new crop comes in, starting sometime in July. We will continue to offer asparagus until the season winds down (which could happen fast with the hot weather), and then that will be it for asparagus until next year. We decided to include chamomile this week as it is flowering like crazy and clearly ready to harvest, instead of peppermint and sage which can continue to grow some more. We will start to harvest our mixed greens next week which will be an assortment of red mustards, collards, red kale, lacinato kale and curly kale. Broccoli and beets from Cinzori Farms will begin soon. For the first week of June, all is looking well.
