Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the delayed newsletter this week. We lost power on Wednesday night, our restoration time is tentative for late Monday night.
Members pick up shares on Saturdays between 2:30 and 5:30 at Genesis of Ann Arbor (Temple Beth Emeth/St Clare’s Episcopal Church) 2309 Packard Ann Arbor, MI – in the backlot. We are looking forward to seeing everybody.
This week’s shares include the following (Cooking Tips and Recipes posted separately):
· Rosemary (1 bunch) from our farm
· Garlic bulbs, Country Valley Farm Hardneck variety (3 medium bulbs) from our farm
· Red Potatoes (1 quart) from our farm
· Petite Sweet Onions (1 pint) from our farm
· Romano Flat Beans – (1 bag) from Cinzori Farm
· Cucumbers – (1 bag) from Cinzori Farm
· Pea Shoots Microgreens – (1pkg) from Gardenworks Farm
Medium shares will receive extra potatoes, extra cucumbers, and extra onions
Farm Update: The potato crop is looking good with lots of large potatoes. We experienced an issue with growth cracks in many of the tubers. The potatoes are fresh, firm, tasty, and totally fine for eating. They will have a shorter storage life and do take some extra kitchen time to peel and cut around the cracks. This is, of course not ideal, but very much a reality as we are seeing the condition present in many of the red potatoes. We will wait to harvest the russet potatoes for a few more weeks (they take longer to finish) and hope to not see the cracking.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for sharing the joy of the community supported agriculture membership – it makes a big difference in our world and is deeply acknowledged.
Warm Regards,
Adam and the Country Valley Farm Team
